CHICAGO -- Anthony Putrus and Sullivan Silva continued their torrid play, but a late goal cost the Thunder Bay a critical three points in the Windy City.
The Chicago Fire U23s scored in the 85th minute to earn the second-place club a 2-2 draw on Tuesday, helping the host squad hang onto a three-point lead for the final playoff spot in the Premier Development League’s Heartland Division.
After Chicago went up 1-0 in the seventh minute, Putrus netted his seventh of the season in the 36th, the two teams hitting half knotted at a goal apiece.
Silva put the Chill up in the 76th with his fourth of the campaign, but the lead was short-lived. The Chicago goal scorers were not available.
The Chill’s record stands at 6-2-2, while Chicago is now 7-3-2, having played two more games than Thunder Bay.
The two sides will pair up again on Thursday, the Chill wrapping up their five-game road trip on Saturday in Des Moines.
