The Thunder Bay Chill may not be in this weekend’s Premier Development League final, but they are still reaping the rewards of their outstanding regular season.
Defender Sicelo (Stitch) Buthelezi and forward Sullivan Silva, the league’s leading goal and point-scorer, on Monday were both named to the 2012 PDL all-conference team, representing the Central Conference.
Silva finished with 13 goals and 32 points in 2012, his first in a Chill uniform.
Finalists for the league’s major awards, including defender of the year and player of the year, are scheduled to be released on Wednesday. They’ll be presented Saturday at the PDL award ceremony in Greensboro, N.C., where FC London will take on the Carolina Dynamo in this weekend’s championship final.
