Cory Kay, Duplantis to return to Border Cats

The Thunder Bay Border Cats will have two familiar faces on their roster this season. Cory Kay and Tyler Duplantis are returning for their second season at Port Arthur Stadium. Kay, a sophomore at Harper College, hit .

The Thunder Bay Border Cats will have two familiar faces on their roster this season.

Cory Kay and Tyler Duplantis are returning for their second season at Port Arthur Stadium. Kay, a sophomore at Harper College, hit .209 with eight doubles, four home runs and 18 RBIs in 47 games for the Cats last year.

Duplantis, a junior at Nicholls State, played 14 games hitting .286 with four RBIS.

Whitby shortstop Joey Hawkins, selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 42nd round of the 2011 MLB draft, is also coming to Thunder Bay after his sophomore year at Missouri State University.

The Cats also added Northeastern University’s rookie of the year Jason Vosler to the team. He hit .312 with 12 doubles, six home runs and and 43 RBIs for the Huskies as a sophomore.

Sam Houston State freshman Jordan Church, a righty who’s 6’7” and 210 pounds, rounds out the first five signed.
