Omar Cotto knows how to come through in the crunch.
The rookie centrefielder smacked a sixth-inning grand slam Tuesday, snapping a 6-6 tie to give the Thunder Bay Border Cats a 10-6 win over the Waterloo Bucks.
It was Cotto’s third homerun of the campaign, part of a 3-for-5, two-run night for the speedster, back in the Cats lead-off position.
Thunder Bay trailed 4-1 after two innings, as Waterloo chased Border Cats starter Matt Cooper in the second.
Wes Parsons took over and lasted six innings, earning the win to improve to 6-1.
Scott Donley was 2-for-6 with a pair of runs batted in for the Cats. Justin Grijalva, who took over in the fourth from Micah Bryan, was saddled with the loss.
The Cats (2-4) and Bucks (2-4) hook up again on Wednesday.
