After contributing to OUA championship efforts in their respective sports, Lakehead Athletics is pleased to recognize women’s Nordic skier Anna Crawford and men’s wrestler Dustin Helwig as the Thunderwolves Athletes of the Week for the week ending Feb. 21.

Anna Crawford, Women’s Nordic Skiing
A two-time CIS all-Canadian, senior skier Crawford (Lake George, New York) put in an elite performance as the Lakehead Thunderwolves women’s Nordic ski team earned their sixth straight and record 13th OUA championship, Feb. 20-21 at Monora Park in Orangeville, Ont.

Crawford won Sunday's 10 km skate event in 31:09.2 to seal the championship for the 'Wolves after passing her closest rivals on the final climb of the race. On Saturday, she was fourth in the 5 km classic and anchored her relay team to a second place result in the 7.5 km race.

Dustin Helwig, Men’s Wrestling
Freshman grappler Helwig (Belfountain, Ontario) made his first OUA Championship experience a victorious one as he earned a gold medal with a 5-0 victory over Guelph’s Scott Wolowich to help the Lakehead Thunderwolves men’s wrestling team earn their first conference title in program history, Feb. 20 at London, Ont.

Wrestling up one weight class, Helwig outscored his tournament opponents 9-0 overall. He joins teammates Gaston Tardiff (57 kg) and Corey Lee (82 kg) as Thunderwolves men’s gold medalists while five others reached the podium.
