LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – Thunder Bay golfer Evan DeGrazia is still in the hunt for status on the Mackenzie Tour-PGA Canada after Day 1 of Q-School in Phoenix.

DeGrazia, a four-time Staal Foundation Open participant, fired a two-over 74 on Wednesday and sits tied for 55th place at the third of five qualifying school events.

The top golfer earns full status on the tour, while the top 40 earn at least conditional status to play this summer.

De Grazia, the fourth-best Canadian on the day, had a card that included four bogeys and a pair of birdies.

American Aaron Beverly tops the field after one round, shooting a five-under 67. David Rose is the top Canadian, one shot back.
