DeGrazia trying luck at Mackenzie Tour Q-School

Twenty-three-year-old Thunder Bay golfer wants to start life as a touring professional in 2018.

PHOENIX – Thunder Bay’s Evan DeGrazia this week will look to take his golf game to the next level.

DeGrazia, who has competed in each of the first four Staal Foundation Opens, is headed to Phoenix for the Mackenzie Tour-PGA Tour Canada’s USA West Q-School No. 2.

The winner of the four-round event earns full exemption on the Mackenzie Tour in 2018. The next four top finishers are exempt for the first eight events, six through 16th earn entry into the first four event and 17th through 40th are awarded conditional status.

DeGrazia, one of 132 golfers in the field, failed to make the cut in each of his Staal Foundation Open finishes, turned professional last year and shot a five-over 149 over the first two days in 2017.

On his website, the 23-year-old DeGrazia, a graduate of Newberry College, states his goal is to play in all 12 MacKenzie Tour events in 2018. He is also seeking sponsorship money.
