They may be the No. 6 team in the nation, but the Lakehead Thunderwolves hockey team showed Saturday night they’re still a work in progress.
For a second straight night the Wolves couldn’t solve the Carson Dzijacky riddle, the Thunder Bay goalie making 34 saves to the University of Ontario Institute of Technology Ridgebacks to a 3-1 home-ice win.
Mat Paul scored twice to lead the charge for UOIT.
Keith Grondin, with just his second of the season, had the lone LU goal, scoring with slightly more than five minutes to go in the third on Dzijacky.
The loss dropped Lakehead (9-3-0) into a three-way tie for second in the OUA West, a point behind Toronto (9-4-1), who have a pair of games in hand.
UOIT (5-7-1) used the weekend sweep to take sole possession of sixth in the OUA East.
