Falcons edge Gryphons to take second place

It was a tight one on Thursday in the battle for second place in high school boys basketball. Cody Gibson-Wilke scored 16 points to lead the St. Ignatius Falcons to a 60-52 overtime win over the Superior Collegiate Gryphons.

In other senior boys play, Jake Falvo had 13 points and Rodrigo Albizurez chipped in 11, as the St. Patrick Saints edged the winless Hammarsjkold Vikings 42-39.

In junior boys basketball, it was Hammarkskjold over St. Patrick 38-31, St. Ignatius over Superior 57-29 and Churchill over Westgate 38-29.

The Falcons remained in top place in senior girls volleyball, but dropped a 2-1 decision to La Verendrye. Meanwhile Churchill edged winless Dennis Franklin Cromarty 2-1.

On the junior girls court it was Hammarskjold and St. Ignatius earning sweeps over Churchill (Grey) and La Verendrye, respectively.
