Goaltender Cicigoi taken by North Bay Battallion in OHL draft

Teammates Owen Belisle, Jordan Smith and Keighan Gerrie also taken in the first 12 rounds of Saturday's 15-round draft.

THUNDER BAY – The North Bay Battalion twice on Saturday dipped into the Thunder Bay well during the Ontario Hockey League draft.

The Batallion took goaltender Christian Cicigoi in the sixth round, 103rd overall, the Minor Midget Kings first player chosen in the 15-round draft. Forty-three turns later North Bay grabbed Thunder Bay winger Owen Belisle in the eighth round with the 146th pick.

A round later the Peterborough Petes snapped up the Kings other goaltender, Jordan Smith, taking him with the 180th overall selection.

Kenora centre Carter Tresoor also heard his name called in the sixth round, taken by the Kitchener Rangers at No. 112. In the 12th round the London Knights selected Kings centre Keighan Gerrie, 237th overall. Thunder Bay's Levi Siau, who plays midget hockey ih London, was snatched by Sudbury 10 picks earlier. 

Centre Ryan Suzuki of the London Knights Minor Midget AAA was the first overall pick, taken by the Barrie Colts.

The draft continues throughout Saturday.
