Al Hackner’s foursome continues to roll on in Nipigon.

Al Hackner’s foursome continues to roll on in Nipigon.

The two-time world champion curler stole the winning point in the 10th end Friday afternoon, edging Thunder Bay’s Bryan Burgess 5-4 to improve to 4-2 at the provincial men’s curling championship.

Hackner’s toughest test lies ahead.

The Thunder Bay skip takes on unbeaten three-time champion Brad Jacobs of Sault Ste. Marie in Friday’s evening draw.

Jacobs and Thunder Bay’s Trevor Bonot played some old-fashioned curling in their match, blanking six straight ends before Jacobs earned the winning point in the 10th, eking out a 2-1 win. Jacobs is 6-0 through seven draws.

In other action, Thunder Bay’s Jeff Currie (3-4) thumped New Liskeard’s Matt Dumontelle (3-4) by an 8-2 count and Mike Jakubo (3-4) kept North Bay’s Jordan Chandler (0-6) out of the win column with a 6-2 triumph.

Other Draw 8 action includes Dumontelle matching up against Burgess, Chandler duelling Bonot and Jakubo taking on Sudbury’s Robbie Gordon. Currie has a bye.
