Hann, Lyons selected for Northwoods League showcase

The Thunder Bay Border Cats are sending a pair of players to the Northwoods League’s Big League Dream Showcase.

Third baseman Kyle Hann, of Oakville, Ont. and second baseman Philip Lyons were chosen for the prospects games, slated for Madison’s Warner Park on July 29.

Hann is hitting .343 for the Cats in 21 games, with two homeruns, 14 RBI and a .447 on-base-percentage.

Lyons, who hit his first homerun of the season in Thursday night’s loss to Duluth, is batting at a .270 clip with 15 RBI.

The showcase features the top players in the league, selected by panel of major league baseball scouts.

Hann and Lyons will play in the first half of a doubleheader, on a team consisting of players from Rochester, Thunder Bay, Willmar and Duluth.

They’ll take on a South Division squad of players from Battle Creek, Green Bay, Eau Claire and Wisconsin.
