The return of the Heart to Heart Charity Bonspiel was a shortlived one.
Absent from Thunder Bay for three years, organizers had hoped to resurrect the once-popular event, but an apparent lack of interest from the local curling community has forced them to cancel the event.
“As plans for the logistics of running such an event could not be completed or finalized, the committee has tried to encourage the participation of the community over the last number of weeks, with little success,” organizers said in a release faxed to local news agencies on Fridyay morning.
A total of 72 curlers were required to make the event, in support of the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital Foundation’s Northern Cardiac Fund, a success, but only 34 had signed up by March 15.
