The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Wisconsin Wilderness forward Wilson Housley has been named Pizza Hut player of the week for the Jan. 16-22 time frame.
In four games, the 20-year-old St. Mary’s Point, Minn., product racked up eight points helping the Wilderness reel off victories in all of them.
Housley scored goals in each of the contests, five in total, and dished out three assists as Wisconsin recorded wins over Iron Range, Thunder Bay, Duluth and Sioux Lookout.
He is currently riding a seven-game point streak and has also supplied offensive production in 13 of his past 14 outings, accumulating 14 tallies and as many helpers.
To recognize his on-ice efforts, Housley, the son of former NHL standout Phil Housley, will be presented with a gift card courtesy of Pizza Hut.
Honourable mention for the Pizza Hut player of the week award went to Troy Olson, (D) Duluth Clydesdales; Tyler Newsome, (F) Dryden Ice Dogs; Byron Katapaytuk, (F) Fort Frances Lakers; Chris Hoffman, (F) Sioux Lookout Flyers, Colton Ishmael (F) Iron Range Iron Heads and Brennen Dubchak, (F) Thunder Bay North Stars.
