RIO DE JANEIRO -- Kenora’s Santo Condorelli missed Olympic bronze by 3/100ths of a second on Wednesday night.
Condorelli instead settled for fourth in the men’s 100-metre freestyle race, 0.3 seconds behind American Nathan Adrian, who captured bronze.
Australia’s Kyle Chalmers won gold in a time of 47.58, 0.22 ahead of Belgium’s Pieter Timers.
"I know I don't have the same back half as these guys do," Condorelli told the CBC. "I'm used to going out fast."
"I just went for it — had fun with it."
It was a personal best for Condorelli.
"I'm not too worried about it. It's my first Olympics just here enjoying the moment, yeah it kind of sucks, I wanted to be top three but there's another Olympics in me," Condorelli told the network.
