THUNDER BAY – The Keystone Cup is the latest championship to fall victim to the coronavirus threat.

The Junior B championship for Western Canada was scheduled to begin on April 23 at the Tournament Centre, hosted by the Thunder Bay Fighting Walleye.

Teams from 12 leagues in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, along with Northeastern Ontario, compete for the Keystone Cup each spring.

The move falls in line with the cancellation and postponement of hockey games and playoffs, from the NHL down to minor ranks, from coast to coast.

The Thunder Bay Northern Hawks are the two-time defending champions.

The tournament has been held in Thunder Bay four times, most recently in 2018. The Fighting Walleye will host the 2021 Keystone Cup.
