THUNDER BAY -- Rinks skipped by Scott Henderson, Krista McCarville, Colin Koivula and Bryan Burgess posted opening draw wins on Wednesday night as the Tbaytel Major League of Curling kicked off it's 41st season at Port Arthur Curling Club.

The Henderson rink, with Mike Pozihun skipping, won its showdown with rival Al Hackner 7-4, while McCarville, the runner-up at last year's Scotties Tournament of Hearts, coasted to an 8-3 win over Greg Doran. McCarville cracked a steal of four in the second end following a first-end deuce en route to the victory.

Koivula doubled up on Trevor Bonot 6-3, while it was a heart breaker for the Gary Weiss rink as they fell 9-5 to Burgess, who stole four in the final end when Weiss's final rock rolled out of the rings on a delicate weight takeout.

Draw 2 of the eight-team double round robin regular season continues with an early draw 6:30 p.m. next Wednesday at the PACC.
