Lakehead cagers fall to McMaster

It’s not do-or-die yet, but a win would certainly help the Lakehead Thunderwolves cause.

It’s not do-or-die yet, but a win would certainly help the Lakehead Thunderwolves cause.

The women’s basketball team was drilled 83-64 by the McMaster Marauders Friday night, and cling to a one-game lead in the race for the final playoff spot in the OUA West.

The Wolves can clinch the spot with a victory on Saturday, or barring that, a Guelph loss to winless Waterloo.

Katie Ulakovic led the way for the Wolves with a heroic 23 points, while guard Carolyn Fragale, playing in possibly her second-to-last game in an LU uniform, chipped in 16, 14 in the first half alone.

The Thunderwolves led the Marauders 20-19 after one quarter, but were out-scored in each of the final three periods.

Hailey Milligan and Danielle Boiago each had 26 to pace the Marauders (11-9), who pulled into a tie for third with Western.
Lakehead fell to 7-13.

Tip-off Saturday in Hamilton is scheduled for 6 p.m.
