WATERLOO, Ont. – The Lakehead Thunderwolves erupted for five goals on Friday night. More importantly, they found the win column for the first time this season.

Five different Thunderwolves players found the back of the net in a 5-1 triumph over the host Waterloo Warriors as Lakehead snapped a four-game losing streak.

Brennen Dubchak, Daniel Del Paggio and Scott Gall scored goals 5:05 apart in the opening period, after Waterloo’s Michael Siddall opened the scoring at the 8:24 mark of the first, beating LU goalie Nic Renyard.

Tyler Anton and E.J. Faust also scored for Lakehead (1-3-1).

Dylan Butler had three assists, while Dubchak added a pair of helpers.

Renyard made 23 stops to earn his first OUA win. Mike Morrison took the loss for Waterloo, making 21 saves on 26 shots.

The Wolves moved out of the OUA West basement with the win and into a tie for seventh with Brock and Windsor.

It was Waterloo’s second defeat in five outings.

The two teams tangle again on Saturday. Lakehead returns home next weekend for a pair against the Brock Badgers.
