The Lakehead Thunderwolves volleyball team concluded their final preseason game with authority.

Lakehead swept all three sets (25-19, 25-23, 25-20) against the Brock Badgers at the McMaster Invitational in Hamilton on Saturday.

The win means the Thunderwolves finish the weekend with a 2-1 record and it ensures them a fifth place finish in their final tuneup before the regular season opens next weekend.

“We were very satisfied with our game,” head coach Chris Green was quoted as saying in a release. “Our young players got a chance to make an impact. It was nice to see them work into the system and grow with experience.”

Two of those young players, rookies Olivia Bowman and Carmen Hutsal finished the contest with seven points.

Fifth-year senior Brittany Macleod led Lakehead in the decisive win over one of their OUA foes, as she recorded eight kills to go along with two blocks and three aces.

From the setter position Vanessa Masters ran the offence picking up 24 assists.

Lakehead will open the regular season at home next weekend with games against the Windsor Lancers.
