Lakehead volleyball swept at home

A strong start to the season has quickly fizzled out for the Lakehead Thunderwolves volleyball squad.

A strong start to the season has quickly fizzled out for the Lakehead Thunderwolves volleyball squad.

Lakehead dropped their sixth straight regular season contest on Saturday, a five-set defeat (20-25, 16-25, 25-9, 28-26, 12-15) at the hands of the Royal Military College Paladins at the Thunderdome.

The loss drops Lakehead to 2-6 on the campaign, after they fell in straight sets to the Queen's Golden Gaels on Friday.

The Thunderwolves faced multiple match points in the fourth set, but were able to stay alive and face a deciding fifth set.

The Paladins would not leave the door open for a second straight set, as RMC claimed their second victory over the season.

Lakehead setter Sara Hudson recorded 38 assists in the contest, and middle Jasmine Fox led the offence with 15 kills.

The Litjens sisters of Mallory and Chelsea combined to record 17 kills, 10 blocks and 15 digs to lead the Paladins.

Lakehead closes out their first half of the season by hosting the Western Mustangs on Nov. 29-30.
