FORT FRANCES, Ont. – The Fort Frances Lakers of the Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Thursday that brothers Nolan and Davis Ross to have committed to attend the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minn., where they will play for the Saints program that competes in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association.

The pair of twins from Fort Frances played in a big role is helping the club capture their third straight Bill Salonen Cup SIJHL championship in 2015-16.

In 35 combined games that featured regular season, playoff and Dudley-Hewitt Cup action, Nolan Ross averaged just over a point-per-game with 37 on 21 goals and 16 assists at forward.

Davis Ross meanwhile also chipped in on defence for the Lakers.

In his 36 total contests he supplied 10 tallies and 19 helpers along the way.

"Nolan was an integral part of two championships and teams that won a total of 89 games,” offered Fort Frances head coach and general manager Wayne Strachan.

“He was a solid two-way guy for us and someone we could count on game in and out,” added Strachan.

“We were happy to have Nolan return home to help our program both years and further help us reach our goals as an organization."

The SIJHL coach of the year also echoed similar sentiments on the other Ross sibling.

"Davis was a huge pick-up for us at the trade deadline this season. He came in and made our team significantly better on our back end as well as an offensive threat from the blue line. He scored some high lite real goals on the power play and in shoot outs and helped us solidify another championship in Fort Frances."

"Both of these young men have strong character traits and the organization wishes them the best of luck in their future endeavours and with the Saints"

With the NCAA commitment list on the Lakers ever-growing, Strachan provided his thoughts on this.

"We are extremely pleased as this now makes five of our graduating 20-year-olds that are now committed to furthering their academic and hockey goals,” stated Strachan.

“We will have more announcements in the next few days as well, but our program is very proud of this graduating class and all they have accomplished," added the Lakers’ bench boss.
