MBB: No. 2 Ravens crush Thunderwolves

Manny Furtado’s return to the nation’s capital wasn’t pretty.

Manny Furtado’s return to the nation’s capital wasn’t pretty.

Furtado, who left an assistant coaching job with the Carleton Ravens last summer to take over the reins of the Lakehead Thunderwolves, was not treated well on Saturday by his former team.

The Ravens, fresh off their first loss of the season and a demotion to the No. 2 university men’s basketball team in Canada, crushed the visiting Thunderwolves 105-58, reminiscent of their 50-point win over LU at the 2013 CIS championship.

Victor Raso led the way for the Ravens with 19 points, one of six Carleton players to hit double digits. Connor Wood had 16 while Thomas Scrubb chipped in 15 as the Ravens improved to 10-1, their lone loss coming last weekend at the hands of the Ottawa Gee Gees.

Jamark Coke had 17 for Lakehead (5-6), who trailed 50-19 at the half.

The Thunderwolves return home next Friday when they’ll take on Algoma.
