OTTAWA – Despite a third straight loss, the Lakehead Thunderwolves are clinging to a playoff spot.

The Wolves, who were throttled 96-58 by the No. 1-ranked Carleton Ravens, are 12th in the ratings performance index standings, the sole determinant of which 12 teams make the OUA men’s basketball playoffs in 2016-17.

The two sides played a relatively even opening quarter, the Ravens opening up a 24-20 lead, propelling them to a 10-point halftime advantage.

They added five to their lead in the third, then wiped the floor with the Thunderwolves in the fourth, outscoring their visiting opponent 30-7.

Kaza Kajami-Keane led all scorers with 27 for Carleton, who remained undefeated at 12-0.

Joe Rocca had 21 off the bench for the Ravens.

Guards Henry Tan and Mor Menashe paced the LU attack with 12 points apiece.

Lakehead’s record dropped to 3-10. They’ll take next weekend off and return on Feb. 3 on the road against Laurentian.
