THUNDER BAY -- The Lakehead Thunderwolves men's basketball team returns to action over the holiday break when they head west to Winnipeg for the 50th annual Wesmen Classic.

The Thunderwolves will first face the undefeated University of Alberta Golden Bears who sport a 10-0 record and are ranked eighth in the U Sports Top 10.

“This Winnipeg trip is a great chance to get games under our belt before our regular season starts in January. Opening up with the best team in the tournament in #8 Alberta, will be a tough challenge," said Wolves coach Manny Furtado in a release issued by the team.

Webcast coverage of the entire Wesmen Classic will be available via Canada West TV

The tournament will be held from Wednesday to Friday at the Dr. David F. Anderson Gymnasium at the Duckworth Centre in Winnipeg

Lakehead's first game is Wednesday at 3 p.m.
