KINGSTON, Ont. – It took the Lakehead Thunderwolves offence two quarters to kick into gear.

By then it was too late.

The Wolves were out-gunned 51-26 in the opening half on Friday night by the host Queen’s Gaels and never recovered, falling 95-68 in their OUA regular-season opener in Kingston, Ont.

Look no further than the starting five when searching for reasons why the team couldn’t find the net in the opening 20 minutes.

Starters Darnell Curtin, Kingsley Campbell-Olsen, Mor Menashe, Jack Bull and Nick Burke combined for just 15 points between them in the loss.

Kache Kopec came off the bench to lead the Wolves with 17 points.

As a team Lakehead hit just six of a whopping 46 three-point shots attempted. Nahshon Hurst added 13 for LU.

Five Gaels players hit double digits, led by 18 from Jaz Bains.

Lakehead takes on York on Saturday.
