McCarville downs Koivula, sits atop Major League of Curling standings

Defending Scotties Tournament of Hearts finalist improves to 4-1.

THUNDER BAY – Krista McCarville is alone atop the Tbaytel Major League of Curling standings.

Her foursome on Wednesday night knocked off Colin Koivula 9-2 in a first-place showdown at Port Arthur Curling Club, stealing four in the sixth end to put the match away.

McCarville, the defending Scotties Tournament of Heart finalist skip, improved to 4-1, a game up on Koivula, Trevor Bonot, Bryan Burgess and Scott Henderson.

Burgess fell 5-2 to Bonot while Henderson slammed Devin Doran’s rink 10-3. Doran is winless after five weeks.

In other action, Gary Weiss iced former world champion Al Hacker 6-0. Both teams are 2-3.
