ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – It was a rough start for the Krista McCarville rink at the Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

McCarville gave up a steal of three to Alberta’s Shannon Kleibrink during the sixth end of Draw 2 on Saturday night in St. Catharines, Ont. then surrendered three more in the eighth and went on to drop her opener 11-6.

The reigning silver medalist at the women’s national curling championship, McCarville started strong, picking up three in the second end. She led 4-2 after four ends.

Kleibrink (1-0) stole a final point in the ninth to put the match away.

McCarville and her team – Sarah Potts, Ashley SIppala and Sudbury’s Kendra Lilly – take on Quebec’s Eve Belisle on Sunday morning.

Both teams are 0-1.
