McCarville evens record at Scotties Tournament of Hearts

After an opening draw loss to Alberta, the team from Northern Ontario responds with an 8-4 win over Quebec.

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. -- Krista McCarville stole her way Sunday to her first victory at the 2017 Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

The 34-year-old skip picked up single points in the fifth, sixth and ninth ends and cruised to a 9-4 win over Quebec's Eve Belisle in Draw 3 action at the Canadian women's curling championship, evening her record at 1-1.

Belisle jumped in front 3-1 wth a deuce in the second end, followed by a steal of one in the third. But McCarville answered back with two in the fourth to tie things up 3-3. The team from Thunder Bay scored three with the hammer in the eighth break open a 5-4 game at the time.

McCarville will take on Saskatchewan's Penny Barker rink in Sunday's evening draw.
