ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – Krista McCarville has stolen points in 16 different ends this week.

None was bigger than the single she scored without the hammer in the 11th end of her match Wednesday night against Robyn McPhee’s rink from Prince Edward Island.

The 34-year-old skip from Thunder Bay orchestrated a come-from-behind 7-6 triumph over her East Coast opponent, scoring two in the 10th to send it to an extra end.

McCarville, lead Sarah Potts, second Ashley Sippala and third Kendra Lilly faced an all-but-must-win situation against the team from P.E.I., knowing a fourth loss might be too many to qualify for the playoffs for a second straight Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

Instead the McCarville foursome improved to 5-3, a win shy of fourth-place Quebec (6-3).

Earlier in the day Team Northern Ontario fell 7-6 to Ontario's Rachel Homan in an extra end.

McCarville, the silver medalist a year ago, takes on Team Canada and Nova Scotia on Thursday and wraps up round-robin play on Friday against the Northwest Territories.
