The Lakehead Thunderwolves got eight goals from eight different goal scorers on Friday night
Added together they equalled a victorious start to the second half of the OUA men’s hockey season.
The Wolves scored the first three goals of the road contest, then finished with five unanswered goals to earn the 8-2 win over the Nipissing Lakers.|
Mike Hammond, Justin Sefton, with his first in a Thunderwolves uniform, and David Quesnele tallied for LU in the first.
Brennen Dubchak, Keith Grondin and Ryan Magill countered in the second after Chad Thibodeau and Matt Paton scored a pair of goals 45 seconds apart late in the second to cut the LU lead to one.
Kelin Ainsworth and Jay Gilbert wrapped up the scoring in the third to earn the net Jeff Bosch his first win since succumbing to a concussion on Oct. 10.
The win improves Lakehead’s record to 7-9-2, good for sixth place in the OUA West.
The two teams will try it again on Saturday night in North Bay.
