The Windsor Lancers have Bill McDonald’s number.

The Lancers beat the Lakehead Thunderwolves for the seventh straight time, dating back to the 2013-14 regular season, ousting them from the OUA playoffs Saturday night with 6-3 triumph that secured a two-game second-round sweep.

It was the second straight year the Lancers eliminated the Thunderwolves from post-season play.

Jake Carrick scored first, but Windsor tallied three straight to take control.

Ryan Green was first to beat Justin McDonald in the Lakehead net, scoring at 16:59 of the opening period. Fifty seconds later the Lancers took the lead for good when Eric Noel scored. Drew Palmer made it 3-1 on the power play early in the second before Trevor Hynnes, playing in just his 10th game of the season, notched his first in a Thunderwolves uniform with less than three minutes to go in the second.

Noel and Jay Gilbert traded goals early in the third, with Spencer Pommells and Sebastian Beauregard scoring into the empty net in the final two minutes of play.

Windsor will take on either Toronto or Guelph in the OUA West final. Their second-round series is tied at a game apiece.
