MONTREAL -- The Lakehead Thunderwolves just couldn’t get their offence going on Saturday night.
The seventh-place Wolves (3-4-0) fired just 20 shots at Concordia Stingers goalie Miguel Sullivan and not one got past as the host team blanked Lakehead 4-0 to complete the weekend sweep.
Philippe Sanche and Scott Oke staked the Stingers to a 2-0 lead in the fourth and Raphael Lafontaine scored twice in the second on goalie Devin Green, all the offence Concordia would need.
Justin McDonald made seven stops on seven shots in a relief role in the third for LU, his first action of the regular season.Green was good on 18 of 22 shots he faced before hitting the showers.
Ninth-ranked Concordia improved to 6-1-0, placing them two points behind top-ranked UOIT, the No. 4 team in the nation who will invade Fort William Gardens next weekend – if city workers don’t walk off the job on Tuesday morning.
Should a strike occur, it’s believed the Wolves will temporarily call the Tournament Centre home.
