WATERLOO, Ont. – After two periods on Saturday afternoon, things weren’t looking good for the Lakehead Thunderwolves.

Luckily for them there was still 20 minutes – and then some – to go.

Daniel Del Paggio and Austin McDonald scored third period tallies to help the Thunderwolves rally back from two goals down and send the game into overtime.

After extra time solved nothing, Grant Valiquette and Dylan Butler made good in the shootout, Devin Green blanking the Waterloo Warriors shooters and Lakehead (2-3-1) captured its second straight road win, downing their hosts 3-2 at Columbia Ice Field Arena.

Keigan Goetz and Joey Champigny had staked the Warriors to a 2-0 lead with second period goals, beating Green with two of the 20 shots he’d face in the OUA West contest.

Trevor Martin made 40 stops for Waterloo (3-3-0).

Lakehead returns home next weekend to host the Brock Badgers for a pair.
