Miners get Cherry-inspired new look for Hockey Day in Canada

Don Cherry was the inspiration behind the English River Miners jersey to be worn during their 2017 Hockey Day in Canada contest.

KENORA, Ont. -- The English River Miners of the Superior International Junior Hockey League have unveiled their jerseys for Saturday’s upcoming Scotiabank Hockey Day in Canada contest at the Kenora Recreation Centre versus the Fort Frances Lakers at 6:30 p.m. CST.

The impressive-looking uniforms pay tribute to the legendary hockey icon Don Cherry complete with their team logo as well as the club colours of black, gold and white along with grey stripes to help highlight the jerseys.

The front of the jerseys also feature a poppy in recognition of all the men and women from the past, to the present, who have represented our country in times of war as well as peace keeping efforts around the world.
