More Border Cats selected in MLB draft

The MLB concluded all 50 rounds of the First Year Player Draft, and as a result major-league ball clubs have officially picked up eight former and current Border Cats players.

2009 Border Cats players include:
  • Pitcher Chris Marlowe (Alvin, TX Community College) went to the Toronto Blue Jays in round 21, selected 636th overall.
  • Pitcher Tyler Powell (Belmont Abbey College) went to the Toronto Blue Jays in round 34, selected 1,026th overall.
  • Outfielder Ryan Honeycutt (University of New Mexico) went to the San Francisco Giants in round 41, selected 1,248th overall.

    2008 Border Cats players picked up in the draft include:

  • Short stop Josh Ashenbrenner (Lewis-Clark State College) went to the Detroit Tigers in round 18, selected 553rd overall.
  • Pitcher Austin Evans (University of Tampa) went to the Chicago White Sox in round 23, selected 698th overall.
  • Pitcher Seth Frankoff (UNC-Wilmington) went to the Oakland Athletics in round 27, selected 815th overall.
  • Outfielder Mike O'Neill (USC - Southern California) went to the St. Louis Cardinals in round 31, selected 949th overall.
