Thunder Bay’s Jason Myskicki finished 44th in Thursday’s 10-kilometre Nordic combined event.
Myslicki, who trains in Alberta, had a poor ski jump to start the duel-sport competition, landing just 69.3 metres, a result that put him 3:51 seconds behind the top jumper, eventual bronze medalist Bernhard Gruber of Austria.
Myslicki travelled the 10-kilometre cross-country portion of the event in 27:02.4, which placed him more than five minutes behind gold medal winner Bill Demong of the United States. American teammate Johnny Spillane took the silver.
Nordic combined penalizes competitors based on their result in the ski jump, tacking additional time on their cross country race through staggered starts. The first racer to cross the finish line wins.
