Narwhals swimmers make splash in Fort Frances

FORT FRANCES, Ont. -- A group of Northwest Narwhal Swim Club swimmers came home with strong results from a meet in Fort Frances earlier this month.

Eight local swimmers participated in the FFAST meet hosted at the Fort Frances Memorial Sports Arena. 

Nine-year-old Paige Brown had strong showings in her 10 races and was awarded the Jim Brow Award for the best athlete in an individual medley event.

Carson Cambly, 12, won eight of his 10 races. Eight-year-old Elly Bodnar also prevailed in eight of her 10 races and 15-year-old Helen Crow was first in six of her 10 races.

Maddox Holmes, 11, had a number of top-four finishes. David Iwanyszyn, Marko Iwanyszyn and Matthew Waddington all had a strong top-10 placings.

The Narwhals will be in action next at the end of this month at the Thunder Bolts meet in Thunder Bay.
