There weren’t too many balls OF Tanner Nivins couldn’t track down in the Border Cats outfield, and his prowess with the leather didn’t go unnoticed.
The Kitchener native, who finished the 2010 season with a.991 fielding percentage, on Thursday was named a winner of a Rawlings Finest in the Field Award, recognized as one of the top three fielding outfielders in the Northwoods League.
He was joined on the squad by teammate Ty Wosleger, who topped all first basemen with a .994 percentage.
