The Superior International Junior Hockey League frontrunners got goals from five different players in the opening 20 minutes at Fort William Gardens, en route to a 5-2 win over the slumping Thunder Bay North Stars (17-10-3).

It was the third straight defeat for the North Stars, who fell four points behind the Lakers.

Nicholas Nigro had both Thunder Bay goals, the two tallies coming in the final five minutes of the third period.

Mason Meyer, Wyatt Cota, Matt Vela, Josh Gouin and Lucas Debenedet scored for Fort Frances (20-7-10).

The North Stars host the Minnesota Iron Rangers on Wednesday night Next up for te Lakers is a Thursday trip to Ear Falls to take on the English River Miners
