Home may be where the heart is, but the road isn’t treating the Thunder Bay North Stars too shabbily.
Making their first trip to Ear Falls on Saturday, the Stars got a goal and three assists from veteran Bryce Maggrah and held off a hard-charging English River Miners squad to earn a 5-4 win.
The Stars (5-0-1) won for the fifth time in sixth outings, all away from the friendly confines of Fort William Gardens.
Taylor Santorelli had two goals and a helper for the visitors, with singles going to Kris Kellaway and Daniel Delpaggio.
Assistant captain Vincent Currao notched a pair of goals for the Miners, who trailed 5-2 heading into the final stanza, but pulled to within one in the final minute of the third.
The expansion Miners, led by former Stars coach Kevin Kahoot, dropped to 1-6-1.
Thunder Bay makes its home-ice debut Tuesday at the Gardens against Dryden.
