North Stars rally to win SIJHL opener

The Thunder Bay North Stars erased a 3-0 first-period deficit Friday night to win their Superior International Junior Hockey League season debut.

The Thunder Bay North Stars erased a 3-0 first-period deficit Friday night to win their Superior International Junior Hockey League season debut.

Cary Brown scored a pair of third period goals and Tyler Santorelli notched on in the second and another in the final frame, spearheading the four-goal comeback and earning the Stars a 4-3 win over the host Fort Frances Lakers.

Lucas Debenedet, Kevin Kurm and Mason Meyer staked the Lakers to the early lead, scoring in span of 8:42 in the first on Thunder Bay goalie Eric Mann.

It earned coach Jeremy Adduono a win in his first game behind the North Stars bench.
