RED LAKE, Ont. – Mchael Vecchio scored what might prove to be the SIJHL goal of the year on Wednesday night.

He continued his goal-scoring ways on Friday night in Red Lake.

The veteran Thunder Bay North Stars forward tallied once and added a pair of assists to lead his club to a 5-2 win over the Red Lake Miners.

It was the sixth straight win for Thunder Bay, who have not lost in regulation since Sept. 27.

Ben Erwin had a pair for the North Stars, giving him eight on the season. Enrico Bozac added the Stars other goal, his first of the season.

Ryan Patterson and Mike Iatridis scored for the Miners.

Thunder Bay improved to 14-1-1 with the triumph and have opened a 10-point cushion over second-place Red Lake, who slipped to 9-6-1.
