REGINA -- Northern Ontario’s Doug Dean came up a little short in his bid to bring home a Canadian Wheelchair Curling Championship.
The Northern Ontario skip fell 5-2 on Sunday in the championship game.  to Darwin Bender’s hometown Saskatchewan rink.

The final was a close battle until the seventh end. With Saskatchewan leading 4-2 and lying one, Dean attempted an open hit but sailed by, giving up the steal and falling behind by three. In the eighth, Bender had an open hit to run Northern Ontario out of rocks and take the title back in front of a loud hometown crowd.

Dean’s team consisted of lead Lola Graham, second Chris Provenzano, third Gino Sonega and alternate Rick Bell. –With files from Curling Canada
