THUNDER BAY -- National Team Development Center Thunder Bay athletes will count on home field advantage when they represent Canada at this weekend’s World Cup Finals being held on the Plains of Abraham in downtown Quebec City.
The entire NTDC women’s team is headed to Quebec to wrap up the World Cup circuit for the year.
Katherine Stewart-Jones, a native of Quebec, returns from competing in the World Nordic Championships to join Sudbury’s Alannah MacLean, Kenora’s Lisle Compton, Vancouver’s Annika Richardson, as well as Thunder Bay natives Sadie White and Mia Serratore. Katherine, along with Alannah and Sadie have already tasted World Cup competition, while Mia, Annika and Lisle will be making their debut.
On the men’s side, Woodstock’s Bob Thompson will return to World Cup action after beginning the season on the circuit, while home grown Evan Palmer-Charrette will finally make his debut in World Cup competition.
NTDC Thunder Bay alumnus Andy Shields will also make the trip to Quebec to wear the red and white.
After living and training in Thunder Bay since last May, the NTDC athletes will compete against the best skiers in the world before meeting their teammates to wrap up the race season with the National Championships, held in Canmore from March 18th to 25th
