Two local teams came up short in their Northern Ontario bantam playdowns.
Kakabeka Falls' Christopher Perozak fell 6-0 in their semifinal match against hometown hopeful Christopher Silver in their morning match at the Fort Frances Curling Club.
The teams blanked the first three ends before Silver got on the board in the fourth with a single. He backed that up with three in the fifth to take a commanding lead.
He advances to the final where he will face Sudbury's Tanner Horgan, the reigning Northern Ontario junior champion. Horgan ran the round robin table with a 7-0 record.
In Thessalon, Thunder Bay's Tiana Gaudry was defeated 8-3 by Blind River's Hayley Horton in their semifinal draw.
Down 5-2 in the sixth, Gaudry gave up a steal of three to all but seal the game.
Horton earns a matchup with Sudbury's Kira Brunton, who locked up the bye to the final after going undefeated in the round robin.
