Puskas helps lead Queen's into OUA football playoffs

TORONTO – Jake Puskas and the Queen’s Gaels are headed to the OUA football playoffs.

Puskas rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown and scored a second major on a pass from quarterback Nate Hobbs to lead Queen’s to a 59-38 win over the host Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday.

The win, combined with a Carleton loss, sends Queen’s to the playoffs on a four-game winning streak, after opening the season with four straight losses.

Hobbs was 32-for-40 for 436 yards and five touchdown passes, adding a one-yard rushing TD to his totals.

Receiver Chris Osei-Kusl caught 12 passes for 179 yards and two scores.

Puskas, who topped the century mark in his final five outings, finished fifth in the OUA in rushing with 727 yards, and fourth in rushing touchdowns with six. He also had three receiving touchdowns on the season, good for a tie for 13th.
