Puskas scores twice to lead Gaels to win

Thunder Bay running back hits the 100-yard mark for the fourth straight game as Queen's crushes York.

KINGSTON, Ont. – Jake Puskas is helping lead a football revival in Kingston.

The Queen’s Gaels running back torched the York Lions for 160 yards and two touchdowns on the ground on Saturday, leading his team to a 52-34 triumph, their third straight OUA victory after starting the season with four consecutive losses.

It was Puskas’s fourth straight 100-yard rushing game.

The former St. Ignatius Falcons standout has 609 yards rushing this season, good for seventh in the league after seven games. He’s fourth in yards per carry, averaging 6.8 yards per touch.

His five rushing touchdowns are tied for fourth in the OUA.

Puskas also has seven receptions for 138 yards and two scores. He caught two passes for 35 yards on Saturday.

A 3-4, Queen’s is tied for seventh in the standings. The top six teams make the playoffs. The Gael’s wrap up regular-season play next weekend against Toronto (1-6).
