Queens face setback with pair of losses at Day 1 of CCM Invitational

BLAINE, Minn. – It was a tough start for the Thunder Bay Sportop midget AA Queens in Day 1 play at the Upper Midwest Elite League’s CCM National Invitational Tournament in Blaine, Minn., as they dropped both of the their games Friday.

Thunder Bay began with a 4-0 loss to Honeybaked of Michigan before suffering a 4-1 setback vs. Upper Midwest Elite White of Minnesota.

In the opener against Honeybaked, Fayth Chambers suffered the defeat in net in a game that saw her side trail 1-0 after the first period and 2-0 through two before allowing two more in the final frame.

Meanwhile taking on a highly-skilled EME White all-star squad in their evening encounter, Emilie Varrin had the lone goal for her side assisted by Samantha Isbell.

Shots on goal favoured the winning side 29-18 with Bailey Chenier in net in the defeat for Thunder Bay.
