Despite holding a wide shots on goal advantage the Thunder Bay Sportop midget AA Queens dropped a 4-3 decision to the Winnipeg Avros Friday in the opener of a four-game series the team is playing this weekend in Winnipeg.
Thunder Bay, who out shot Winnipeg 50-19 in the contest, got a pair of tallies from Kaley Tienhaara and the first of the season by Emily Armstrong.
Emily Oleksuk, Karli Nummikoski, Michelle Carlson and Natasha Nicholl all drew assists in the game while Sydney Isbell suffered the loss in net.
The road trip for the Queens continues Saturday as they play the Shaftesbury Titans Prep team twice.
Game 1 goes at 1:50 p.m. CST while the night cap gets underway at 7:50 p.m.
Thunder Bay concludes their weekend Sunday at 9:30 a.m. versus the Westman Wildcats.
